Reverse description The reverse presents a neoclassical allegorical composition designed by Augustin Dupré, depicting Hercules standing facing, his lion skin draped over his arm, flanked by two female figures personifying Liberty on the left and Equality on the right, each joining hands with him in a gesture of union. To the lower left is a small figure of the fasces, and to the lower right a bundle of rods, symbolizing republican strength. The legend 'UNION ET FORCE' arcs across the upper field, and Dupré's engraver signature appears in the exergue below a horizontal baseline. The whole is enclosed within a dentilated border.
