Reverse description The denomination 5 FRANCS is displayed in two lines at the centre of the field, below which the mint mark K and date 1831 appear on either side of a small pellet, engraved by Joseph-François Domard. The central inscription is enclosed within a wreath of oak and laurel branches, tied at the base with a ribbon bow. The wreath branches meet at the top of the coin in a symmetrical arrangement, their detailed foliage rendered in fine relief. A toothed border surrounds the entire reverse design.
