Additional information

This piece belongs to a sprawling series of fantasy issues produced for the Banque Centrale du Congo in the late 1990s — coins struck to generate foreign exchange revenue rather than circulate. Sweden's Princess Victoria has no meaningful connection to the Democratic Republic of Congo, then in the middle of a catastrophic civil war that had just ousted Mobutu Sésé Seko. The issuing authority was barely functional as a monetary institution at the time of this coin's production.
