Obverse description Bare-headed bearded bust of Henri V (Henri, Comte de Chambord, Legitimist pretender to the French throne) facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and full beard. The engraver's signature CAPEL. F. appears in small letters beneath the truncation. The circular legend HENRI V ROI DE FRANCE runs along the periphery within a beaded border, executed in a refined neoclassical style characteristic of Bourbon Legitimist coinage essays.
