| Obverse description | The allegorical figure of the Semeuse (The Sower), personifying the French Republic, is depicted striding left in flowing robes, scattering seeds with her right hand while carrying a satchel over her left arm. Radiating lines in the field behind her evoke sunlight, reinforcing the symbolic imagery of republican renewal and agricultural fertility. The legend REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE arcs along the left and right periphery, and the engraver's signature O. ROTY appears in small letters at the base of the design. The composition is rendered in high relief with finely detailed drapery, consistent with Roty's celebrated Art Nouveau style first introduced in 1897. |
