| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of Prince Rainier III facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed hair and strong facial features in a naturalistic style. The engraver's signature R. JOLY appears beneath the truncation, with the word ESSAI inscribed to the left of the portrait in the field.
