Reverse description Central design featuring a francisca (Frankish throwing axe) overlaid with a fasces-like bundle of oak branches tied with a ribbon, bearing five five-pointed stars along its shaft and the word PACTE on a scroll near the top of the axe head. The large denomination numeral 5 appears to the lower left and the denomination letter F to the lower right of the central motif. The circular legend is divided into three parts of the Vichy motto: TRAVAIL in the upper left arc, FAMILLE in the upper right arc, and PATRIE along the lower arc. The date 1941 appears in the exergue flanked by small mint marks, with the word ESSAI (trial/pattern) inscribed to the right.
