Obverse description Left-facing draped bust of Marianne, allegorical figure of the Republic, wearing a Phrygian cap adorned with a cockade. The legend RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE curves around the periphery, divided by the bust. The engraver's signature E. J. VEZIEN appears in small lettering beneath the truncation of the bust. The portrait is rendered in a refined Art Deco style characteristic of inter-war French coinage design.
