Obverse description Central field features a large Imperial 'N' surmounted by a crown, flanked on either side by the denomination numerals '5' and 'F', all enclosed within a dotted inner border. The surrounding legend reads DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE, separated by decorative stops, conveying the patriotic Napoleonic motto. The design is boldly struck in a primitive, utilitarian style consistent with emergency siege coinage, applied as a countermark onto the host coin's obverse.
