Obverse description An allegorical female figure seated at left tends to a child beside a beehive, rendered in fine intaglio engraving. The bank title BANQUE DU CONGO BELGE arches across the upper field with the denomination CINQ FRANCS in a bold central panel, below which the payable location MATADI is stated. The serial number appears twice, with signature lines for Le Secrétaire-Général and Le Président, and a printed date in the upper right corner; corner numerals 5 occupy all four angles against a fine guilloche background.
