Obverse description Bare-headed right-facing bust of King Louis Philippe I, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair and side-whiskers, in the neoclassical style characteristic of engraver E. Dubois. The circular legend reads LOUIS PHILIPPE I to the left and ROI DES FRANCAIS to the right, separated by the truncation of the bust at the base. The engraver's signature E. DUBOIS appears incuse on the truncation. A toothed border frames the entire design.
