Obverse description The national coat of arms of Guinea occupies the central field, depicting a shield bearing two crossed rifles overlaid with an olive branch, surmounted by a flying dove with outstretched wings. The shield is supported by a three-panel ribbon bearing the national motto TRAVAIL — JUSTICE — SOLIDARITÉ. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE DE GUINÉE arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1985 is prominently displayed to either side of the shield at mid-field, and the denomination CINQ FRANCS GUINÉENS curves along the lower rim.

The numeral 5 appears in bold relief to the left of the frond's stem. The two-line denomination legend FRANCS / GUINÉENS is inscribed in the lower field beneath the frond, separated from the rim by a raised border.
