| Obverse description | A recumbent lion vignette occupies the left portion of the note, rendered in intaglio against a fine guilloche underprint in blue and ochre. To the right, a vignette of traditional African drums and a bowl is set within an ornate geometric border frame, with the large numeral '5' in an octagonal cartouche at the lower right. The denomination 'CINQ FRANCS' is printed in bold red letterpress across the centre, above the payability clause and the place of issue 'GRAND-BASSAM', with two manuscript signature lines for 'Un Administrateur' and 'Le Directeur' and a handwritten date below. |
