| Obverse description | A recumbent lion vignette occupies the left side, engraved in intaglio by Ernest Florian after the design of H. Bellery-Desfontaines, while a complex scene with a drum and bowl appears at right within an octagonal guilloche border. The bank title BANQUE DE L'AFRIQUE OCCIDENTALE arches across the upper centre in red letterpress above the large denomination text CINQ FRANCS, with the place of issue DAKAR and the date printed in the central panel alongside two manuscript signatures. Serial numbers appear in all four corners, and the large numeral 5 is printed in orange at the lower right. |
