Obverse description The bimetallic coin features a nordic gold centre bearing the large denomination numeral '5 FR.' in the field, with the Swissmint mintmaster's mark and the mint mark 'B' below. The circular legend 'CONFOEDERATIO HELVETICA 2003' runs around the periphery of the golden centre. The copper-nickel outer ring is decorated with an ornate continuous garland of stylised scrolling foliage and floral motifs in relief, lending the piece a distinctly decorative character consistent with its trial (essai) status.
