| Obverse description | Two allegorical figures in intaglio flank the central text field: at left, Mercury seated and holding a caduceus and money bag, and at right, a male figure in classical attire resting with agricultural implements. The denomination CINQ FRANCS is printed in large bold letterpress at centre, with the issuer's name BANQUE DE L'ALGÉRIE above and the Arabic equivalent below.
