Obverse description The obverse features the crowned coat of arms of the Belgian Congo centrally positioned in the field, surmounted by the Belgian royal crown. The shield displays horizontal lines charged with a central escutcheon bearing a rampant lion, flanked by a five-pointed star at upper left and lower right. The date is split across the field with '19' to the left and the final two digits to the right of the arms. The engraver's initials 'D.B.' appear below the shield near the base. The bilingual legend 'BELGISCH CONGO BELGE' arcs along the upper periphery, while 'RUANDA-URUNDI' curves along the lower periphery, each separated by a five-pointed star.
