Reverse description A frontal zebu (Malagasy humped ox) head is depicted in the center of the field, its sweeping curved horns forming a crescent that frames a raised circular panel bearing the numeral '5' above the word 'FRANCS'. To the left and right of the zebu head, decorative agricultural sprigs — including a rice stalk and a vanilla plant — flank the central motif. The denomination 'ARIARY' is inscribed along the lower periphery in Roman capitals.
