| Obverse description | Right-facing bare-headed portrait bust of Lajos Kossuth, the Hungarian statesman and independence leader, rendered in high relief with fine detail to his beard and facial features. The bust occupies the central field in a classical medallic style. The legend 'KOSSUTH' arcs along the right rim, while the dates '1802-1894' curve along the left rim, flanking the portrait. The field is otherwise plain, lending the design an austere, dignified quality characteristic of commemorative issues of the period. |
