| Reverse description | A finely modelled bare-headed portrait bust of Lajos Kossuth, the Hungarian statesman and national hero, rendered in high relief and facing left in strict profile. The portrait depicts Kossuth in his later years, with swept-back hair and a full beard, executed in a bold, sculptural style characteristic of mid-20th century Hungarian medallic art. The legend 'KOSSUTH' runs vertically along the right field, while the birth and death years '1802-1894' are inscribed vertically along the left field. The field is otherwise plain, allowing the powerful effigy to dominate the design. |
