Additional information

The Aruban Red Cross, established in 1986 following the island's separation from the Netherlands Antilles, has remained a small but active affiliate of the international movement, primarily focused on disaster preparedness in a region routinely exposed to Atlantic hurricane seasons. This commemorative was issued under Willem-Alexander, who ascended to the Dutch throne in 2013 following Beatrix's abdication — the first abdication by a Dutch monarch since Wilhelmina in 1948.

Aruba retains its own central bank and issues coinage independently of the Netherlands, a function established at Status Aparte in 1986.
