The prikichi — a small, loud parakeet endemic to Aruba — became the subject of genuine conservation concern as the island's development accelerated through the late twentieth century. Aruba's central bank has used its collector coin program selectively to spotlight native fauna, and this issue belongs to that series. The bird's restricted range makes it unusually vulnerable; it exists nowhere else on Earth.
