Aruba separated from the Netherlands Antilles on 1 January 1986 under a special autonomous status arrangement — "Status Aparte" — and the Centrale Bank van Aruba was established that same year to issue a distinct currency, the Aruban florin. This 1990 P#6 belongs to the bank's founding series, designed by local artist Evelino Fingal, whose commission marked a deliberate effort to produce notes with a distinctly Aruban visual identity rather than recycled Netherlands Antilles imagery.

Enschedé in Haarlem has printed Dutch colonial and Caribbean currency for centuries, and their production quality here is consistent with the house standard. The watermark is the sole security feature on this denomination.
