Obverse description Left-facing bust of Yuan Shikai in military uniform with epaulettes, rendered in moderate relief after the style known as the 'Fat Man' type, engraved by Luigi Giorgi. The portrait is positioned centrally within a plain inner field, surrounded by a beaded border. A five-character Chinese legend arcs across the upper field reading 中華民國三年 (Year 3 of the Republic of China), with the reign-year characters flanking the portrait at left and right. The overall composition reflects the European academic engraving tradition applied to Chinese Republican coinage.
