| Reverse description | A coiled imperial Chinese dragon rendered in high relief occupies the central field, depicted facing forward with scales finely detailed and claws outstretched, clutching a flaming pearl at centre. Elongated oval pellets, representing flames or clouds, are scattered throughout the field surrounding the dragon. The circular Latin legend arcs along the upper periphery reading 'SZECHUEN PROVINCE', while the denomination '3.6 CANDAREENS' is inscribed along the lower border. Small lozenge-shaped ornamental stops separate the legend segments. The overall design reflects the hand of an American engraver applying Western medallic conventions to a Chinese imperial motif. |
