Obverse description The obverse is dominated by an intricate guilloche underprint in red and blue, with two large circular rosette vignettes flanking the central Chinese characters. The denomination 伍分 (Five Fen) is printed in large characters at the centre, with the issuer name 中國銀行 (Bank of China) across the top and 國幣券 (National Currency) at the bottom. Serial numbers appear in red at upper left and upper right, with additional exchange-rate text panels on either side.

Reverse description The reverse is printed in blue on a pink guilloche underprint, with an elaborate central lozenge-shaped guilloche medallion surrounded by leaf and scroll ornaments. The English inscription BANK OF CHINA appears at the top, with FIVE FEN in large letters at the centre and HARBIN denoting the issuing branch below. Two manuscript signatures appear across the lower portion, with additional Chinese exchange-rate text panels on the left and right margins.
