| Obverse description | The emblem of the Central Bank of Cyprus occupies the centre of the field, depicting a shield charged with a dove in flight above the date 1960, the year of Cypriot independence, all enclosed within a wreath of olive branches. The trilingual legend CYPRUS, ΚΥΠΡΟΣ, and KIBRIS arcs around the upper periphery in Latin, Greek, and Turkish scripts respectively, with the issue year 2021 inscribed centrally above the shield. The mirror-polished proof field provides strong contrast against the frosted devices. |

Cyprus joined UNESCO in 1961, and the island's designated World Heritage Sites — including Paphos and the Painted Churches of the Troodos region — have anchored much of the republic's cultural diplomacy ever since. This issue belongs to a long-running commemorative program the Central Bank has used to highlight those designations, producing collector-oriented silver pieces that see virtually no circulation.
