Obverse description The copper-nickel centre depicts a three-quarter view of the medieval Turku Cathedral, one of Finland's most historically significant ecclesiastical buildings, rendered in fine relief against a polished field. The bell tower and nave are clearly delineated, with architectural detailing capturing the Gothic character of the structure. The bilingual legend SUOMI FINLAND arcs along the upper portion of the aluminium bronze outer ring, with the engraver's initial N positioned to the right within the ring. The bimetallic composition creates a strong visual contrast between the inner and outer sections of the coin.
