| Additional information |
La Almudaina began as a Roman fortress, was rebuilt by Moorish rulers as an alcázar, and was subsequently converted into a Gothic royal palace by James II of Majorca in the early fourteenth century. It remains the official royal residence in Palma, making it one of the few medieval Islamic-origin structures still in active ceremonial use by a European monarchy. This coin belongs to FNMT's ongoing series dedicated to Spanish royal palaces and patrimony sites, issued under the broader cultural coinage program that expanded significantly after Spain's numismatic reform of the early 2000s.
