Reverse description The reverse features a large stylized heart rendered in deep red enamel color, dominating the central field. Overlaid upon the heart is a detailed anatomical depiction of a human heart in color, accompanied by an electrocardiogram (ECG) trace extending across the design. The date '3 December 1967' is inscribed in the upper portion of the field within the heart motif. The surrounding legend, arranged along the periphery, reads 'THE FIRST HEART TRANSPLANT' at the top and 'CAPETOWN SOUTH AFRICA' at the bottom, all within a raised border.
