Obverse description A nine-pointed star design fills the central field, incorporating the heraldic shields of Austria's nine federal states arranged symmetrically around a central roundel bearing the large numeral '5'. The shields display the individual armorial bearings of each province in relief. The circular legend along the nonagonal border reads 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' at the top and '5 · EURO ·' at the bottom, all in Latin script.

Reverse description A elegantly dressed female figure, wearing an ornate Venetian-style masquerade mask adorned with feathers and filigree scrollwork, is depicted in three-quarter portrait facing left. In the left field, she raises a champagne flute, with effervescent bubbles rendered in the background alongside a small flying bat motif, a reference to the operetta 'Die Fledermaus' by Johann Strauss II. The legend 'DIE FLEDERMAUS' curves along the upper left border, and the date '2015' appears in the lower left field.
