Obverse description The central field features a composite shield composed of the heraldic arms of Austria's nine federal states, arranged radially around a central numeral '5' denoting the face value. The individual cantonal escutcheons display their respective traditional charges, including eagles, lions, and geometric devices, rendered in fine relief. The denomination '5' is prominently displayed in the center of the shield composition. The circular legend around the periphery reads 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' at the top and '· EURO ·' at the bottom, in bold Latin lettering following the nonagonal outline of the coin.
