Issued to mark the 125th anniversary of the Liechtenstein Principality Railway, a single-track line connecting Feldkirch in Austria to Buchs in Switzerland that passes through the entire length of the principality — roughly 9.5 kilometers of Liechtenstein territory. The line was never owned by Liechtenstein itself; it was built and has always been operated by Austrian Federal Railways, making this commemorative something of an acknowledgment that the principality's rail infrastructure belongs entirely to a foreign state.
