Obverse description The obverse displays the conjoined coats of arms of Portugal and Austria surmounted by the Imperial Crown of the Holy Roman Empire, rendered in fine relief against the mirror field. The Portuguese State Seal appears to the left of the central design. The denomination '5 EURO' is inscribed at the bottom of the field, flanked by the engravers' initials 'IC · FB' and the mint mark 'INCM'. The surrounding legend arcs along the upper and lower periphery, identifying the subject and the issuing state.
