Additional information

Larochette Castle, perched above the Ernz Blanche valley in central Luxembourg, was split between two feudal families — the Metternichs and the Brandenburg-Ansbach line — for much of its medieval history, creating a genuinely unusual dual-lordship arrangement that left architectural evidence still visible in the ruins today. Henri I, Count of Luxembourg, held the territory in the late 13th century during a period of aggressive dynastic consolidation that would eventually position the Luxembourg dynasty for the imperial throne within two generations.

The niobium centre, struck in a characteristic blue-violet hue, is a production decision made at the Austrian Mint, which has supplied bimetallic niobium-silver coins to Luxembourg for this commemorative series since its inception.
