Obverse description The copper-nickel centre depicts an architectural composition featuring two of Helsinki's most prominent landmarks: the bell tower and facade of Helsinki Cathedral on the left and the distinctive dome and colonnaded structure of Uspenski Cathedral on the right, rendered in low relief with the buildings extending across both the inner disc and the outer aluminium bronze ring. The legend SUOMI FINLAND arcs across the upper field in two lines within the ring. The engraver's initial N appears at the base of the centre disc. The overall design evokes the contrasting Lutheran and Orthodox ecclesiastical heritage of the Finnish capital.
