| Obverse description | Central design features a large circular shield rendered in high relief, bearing the Maltese coat of arms at its centre — two armoured knights as supporters flanking a quartered escutcheon surmounted by a helm and mantling, with the motto FIDUCIA FORTIS inscribed on a scroll below. The shield is overlaid with the eight-pointed Maltese Cross in the field, and its rim is studded with rivets. Flanking the shield in the background are the gauntleted arms and torso of a knight in full plate armour on each side, with chainmail texture visible at the edges. The legend MALTA arches above in bold raised letters, and the date 2022 appears below. The mintmaster initials MF and fineness mark 1 OZ AG 999.9 are inscribed on the left side of the coin. |
