| Obverse description | Frontal architectural elevation of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the venue of the opera's world premiere, rendered in fine detail across the central field. A European robin perched on a flowering peach branch appears above the theatre's roofline, with a large circular motif representing the rising sun depicted in the background. The engraver's name L. DE SIMONI and the legend REPUBBLICA ITALIANA are inscribed below and around the design respectively. |
