Obverse description A red fox rendered in fine relief occupies the centre of the coin, depicted standing and facing left with mouth slightly open, set against a naturalistic landscape. The medieval Turku Castle (Turun linna) rises prominently in the background, its stone towers and walls rendered in detailed relief. The scene is framed within the inner copper-nickel disc, while the outer aluminium bronze ring carries the curved legend SUOMI FINLAND along the upper arc in bold raised Latin lettering. The composition is engraved by Erkki Vainio in a naturalistic artistic style, combining wildlife and architectural heritage into a single unified design.

Reverse description The coat of arms of the Finnish historical province of Finland Proper (Varsinais-Suomi) is depicted in fine relief at the centre of the coin, featuring a heraldic shield surmounted by a ducal crown and bearing crossed halberds with a central escutcheon. The large numeral '5' appears to the left of the shield in the field, while the mint mark 'T' and the engraver's initial appear to the right. The date 2014 is inscribed along the upper arc of the outer aluminium bronze ring, and the denomination legend EURO curves along the lower arc, all in raised Latin lettering.
