Obverse description The obverse features a stylized composition centered on an ancient Greek trireme sailing vessel rendered in low relief, its oarsmen visible along the hull. Superimposed across the sail is a large excerpt of text from a Cavafy poem written in Greek script, presented as if inscribed on a scroll or unfurled canvas. To the upper right of the field, the Greek state coat of arms — a quartered shield bearing a cross, encircled by a laurel wreath — appears in relief. A small oil lamp or torch motif is placed near the top center of the design. The legend ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗ ΔΗΜΟΚΡΑΤΙΑ curves along the upper rim in Greek script.
