Additional information

The Treaty of Utrecht, signed in 1713, ended the War of the Spanish Succession and fundamentally redrew European power. For the Netherlands, it confirmed territorial losses but secured trade advantages; for Britain, it delivered Gibraltar and Menorca. The joint Dutch-British commemorative angle here is deliberate — the treaty remains one of the few diplomatic settlements both nations regard as broadly favorable.

The colorized proof finish was applied by the Royal Dutch Mint in Utrecht itself, the city where the original negotiations concluded.
