| Obverse description | The nonagonal obverse features a central star-shaped geometric framework enclosing the large numeral '5' at its centre, surrounded by nine segmented panels each bearing one of the nine Austrian provincial coat of arms in relief. The denomination '· EURO ·' is inscribed along the lower arc of the outer legend, while 'REPUBLIK ÖSTERREICH' curves around the upper portion of the coin's periphery in raised Latin lettering. The design, created by Helmut Andexlinger, reflects the standard obverse format employed for the Austrian silver 5 Euro commemorative series. The flat nonagonal field is framed by a raised rim consistent with the coin's distinctive nine-sided shape. |
