Additional information

Germany's bimetallic 5 euro coins were not circulated in the conventional sense — most were sold directly to collectors through the Bundesbank and national distributors, making worn examples essentially nonexistent. The 2013 issue was part of a commemorative series rather than a response to any monetary gap; the 5 euro denomination itself had no place in everyday German commerce, where the note had long dominated that value.
