| Additional information |
Organized firefighting in Latvia traces to the volunteer fire brigade movement that spread through the Baltic provinces in the 1860s, following similar civic initiatives in Germany and Scandinavia. The Riga Volunteer Fire Society, founded in 1865, became the anchor institution from which the broader Latvian firefighting network grew — making 2015 the credible anchor for this anniversary.
Latvijas Banka has issued silver 5 Euro commemoratives in this weight and alloy class fairly consistently since euro adoption in 2014, using them as the primary vehicle for cultural and institutional anniversaries.
