| Obverse description | At center, the figure of Sagittarius — depicted as an archer with head turned to the left — is rendered in the foreground against a uniformly repeated flame motif filling the field, evoking the fire element associated with this zodiac sign. The archer is set within an upward-pointing triangle, the classical symbol of fire. The Latin inscription SAGITTARIUS is repeated in full around the entire perimeter of the square flan, forming a continuous border legend. At the upper center, the abbreviated legend RI (Repubblica Italiana) identifies the issuing state, while the graphic symbol of Sagittarius appears in the exergue. The initials AV, for designer Antonio Vecchio, are incuse within the flame motif at center. |
