| Obverse description | Two depictions of the Nieuport biplane aircraft rendered in fine relief against a stippled field: a large three-quarter perspective view of the aircraft dominates the upper portion, while a smaller frontal schematic view appears below it in the lower centre. The national inscription ESPAÑA is incused in bold script along the lower field, accompanied by a stylised flourish to the right. |

This coin belongs to Spain's "Aviation Pioneers" series, issued to mark early developments in powered flight. The Nieuport connection runs through Spanish military aviation history — Nieuport biplanes were among the first aircraft acquired by the Spanish Army's nascent air arm in the 1910s, with several operated from the Cuatro Vientos aerodrome outside Madrid. Spain's early military aviators trained on French-designed machines almost exclusively, and the Nieuport types saw service in the Moroccan campaigns of the Rif War.
