| Obverse description | Central device depicts a crowned, bearded medieval king shown in three-quarter view, clad in armour and a fur-trimmed mantle, holding a sceptre in his right hand and an orb surmounted by a cross in his left. The figure is surrounded by a wreath of stylised foliage and berries. The inscription GUSTAVS D G in two arcs flanks the king's figure within the inner circle. An outer raised border carries the multilingual legend SCHWEDEN - SUEDE - SVERIGE - SWEDEN - SVEZIA - SWECIE in six segments, interspersed with small stars.
