| Obverse description | The obverse features a stylized rendition of the Vytis coat of arms, deliberately executed in a non-classical manner inspired by fragments of hearth tiles dating to the reign of Casimir Jagiellon (Kazimieras Jogailaitis), excavated at Vilnius Lower Castle. The heraldic motif occupies the central field, rendered in an archaic decorative style evoking medieval Lithuanian iconography. Encircling the design, the legend LIETUVA appears along the upper arc, while the denomination 5€ and the date 2017 are inscribed in the lower field. The mintmark LMK of the Lithuanian Mint is also present in the field. |
