| Obverse description | The central field features a large ligature of the Glagolitic letters Hrv (ⰘⰓ), the traditional abbreviation for Hrvatska (Croatia), superimposed over the Croatian historic coat of arms — the red and white checkerboard shield (šahovnica). The date appears in the upper field above the central device, followed by a period in Croatian typographic convention. The legend HRVATSKA is inscribed along the lower portion of the field in Latin script. Twelve five-pointed stars, representing the European Union, encircle the design along the inner rim. |
