Obverse description Left-facing equestrian figure of Lautaro (c. 1535–1557), the celebrated Mapuche military leader and tactician who resisted the Spanish conquest of Chile, rendered in bold relief against a plain field. The rider is depicted in dynamic pose atop a rearing horse, conveying martial authority.
